Yachts: WiFi Hotspot Internet Router - use Free or Inexpensive Fast WiFi Hotspot Internet for everyone on board!

Alan Spicer Marine Telecom has a main purpose to sail and motor yachts - to help you save money on your communications and Internet Access costs. I often specify multiple systems to give you least-cost options for any particular location. Often one of those lowest cost options is WiFi Hotspot Internet which is offered by many marinas and other locations where you travel. Often WiFi Hotspot access is FREE - or included with your docking fees. At other times it is offered for relatively low cost weekly, monthly, or yearly by pay WiFi Hotspot Systems. But you’ll want to take full advantage of those systems by sharing a single connection to them to all of your computers and laptops on board.

Alan Spicer Marine Telecom has just the thing. A WiFi Hotspot Sharing System - with 400mW power output, and all the Coax Cable and Outdoor antenna parts of the system included. I also offer installation support via my yearly consulting and support agreements which can help you get the whole thing installed and working on your vessel. This includes integration with other Internet Systems that you may have, and the onboard wired and wireless networking that you will need to make full use of all of this.

Yachts: You’ve got Cellular Voice - now add 3G Cellular Internet

A lot of yachts out there… already have a Cellular Voice system. It’s probably connected to the PBX or Telephone Jacks for voice telephone service for the whole yacht. Chances are it’s an older Ericsson F221m or F251m system. Those units have the telephone line connection expected by analog telephone gear and PBX systems. They also had a 9-pin modem cable connection for something called GPRS/Edge Cellular Internet.

Those systems can be replaced / upgraded to the Ericsson W25 - using the same cellular antenna, coax cabling, and connection that screws onto the unit. With the E W25 you step up to 3G Internet Access, drop the 9-pin modem connection - which was quite difficult to share onto a boats network, and gain a real Internet Router capable of sharing the Internet onto on board wired and wireless computers and laptops. The E W25 also retains the telephone line connection capability for your PBX or Analog Telephones that the older units have. So you can replace the older unit altogether.

I can quote the E W25 system including installation support and 1 year of support for all of your Computer and Internet technologies.

Yachts: Remote Support at a very good price… Houston do you read me?

Alan Spicer Marine Telecom provides remote consulting and support at a very good price. This is good for new systems installation (do-it-yourself) or for support of existing systems and the related yacht on onboard network. A lot of my yacht customers take the yearly support and consulting agreement - which is 12 months of telephone and email consulting and support all for one very reasonable price. A lot of yachts want to install a new Internet Access System - or add an additional system - for least-cost connecting to the Internet depending on where they are located and what’s available.

I have consulting on numerous projects where I have specified the equipment, quoted the costs, ordered, and shipped the gear to sailing and motor yachts worldwide. With the consulting and support agreement I am able to engineer how everything gets installed, connected, and configured … and assist yachts with getting it up and operational. The savings over hiring someone to come on board and do all of it can be huge.

Often my existing yacht customers call by phone or email me - when they have problems or need to add a laptop onto the boat network, or they want to add some functionality to their on board network such as sharing files and printers - even Network Attached Storage (network hard disk drives) - and I assist them with whatever they need.

If you are interested in a quote for a system - along with remote support - please contact me by telephone or email.

“Houston do you read me?” - It’s often like I’m Houston Control for a spacecraft - because a yacht can be anywhere and require being walked through the steps to accomplish a particular thing. This kind of expert consulting and support is worth way more than the cost of these agreements. Most of the captains that I have on these agreements would tell you something very much like that.
