The Problem… for all the abilities and strengths, Mobile Broadband Cards alone cannot connect (can’t be shared) to hundreds of millions of WiFi and Ethernet enabled devices.
Cellular cards are USB Card, Express Card, and there are a few other older styles…
There are a lot of devices - hundreds of millions - actually it turns out to be billions… of devices that are WiFi Enabled or can plug into a wired Ethernet connection. You just cannot plug those Mobile Broadband Cards into those things.
- POS Equipment
- Security Cameras
- PDA or Smart Phone with WiFi but no Cellular (ipod Touch)
- Multiple Laptops in one business, vehicle, or vessel - or remote site…
- Game Consoles - Your Play Stations, Xboxes, Nintendo’s
* However when those devices are receiving Internet via WiFi or Ethernet wire - they don’t care where that Internet is coming from!!!!
* So now by plugging the Mobile Broadband (Cellular) Card into a Cradlepoint Router solution - Billions of Devices could potentially be “Internet Enabled”
Many users, workers, companies would save money and be more productive by having Internet on location on the device they need it on. iPod Touch is less expensive than iPhone (I’ve said this before) and can only connect via WiFi. I go on a lot of yachts … and if they have WiFi an iPod Touch (or other WiFi enabled Smart-Phone or PDA) can get online. Multiples of iPod Touches could get online at a single location along with multiples of laptops, and wired desktops and other gear as well.
* Cradlepoint PHS300 (3G/4G) - has a built in battery for couple of hours of ”Personal Hotspot” truly portable - for multiple users via WiFi - take it to lunch. Take it on provisioning runs. MSRP = $179.99 (WiFi to 100 yards - no Ethernet port.) Has a wall charger. You can use it while charging. Small 12v-110vAC inverters available for automobiles can be used to keep the thing charged - all the while using it in that same vehicle. Then carry it out to the Picnic - Barbeque - The Pool - The Business Associate Get Together Spot, etc…
* Cradlepoint CTR350 - (3G Only) Cellular Travel Router - 3G USB modems or tethered phones. 1 USB Port - 1 10/100 WAN/LAN Ethernet - Wifi to 100 yards - Share to 2 or more laptops. Does not have the battery that the PHS has. Least expensive - less features - MSRP = $99.99. You have to plug this in with the included power adaptor because again it does not have the built-in battery.
* Cradlepoint CTR500 - (3G/4G) - More for the Business type of Traveler - 1 USB - 1 Express Card - 1 10/100 WAN/Ethernet - Failover / Failback capability if the 1 Ethernet port is used as WAN rather than LAN - 100 yards WiFi Range - AC and 12V Auto Adaptor (say that two times!) - Display provides signal strength indication on demand - Connector for optional WiFi antenna for improved WLAN coverage. MSRP = $199.99.
* Cradlepoint MBR1000 - (3G/4G usb modems or phones) - 2 USB ports - 1 Express Card slot - 1 10/100 dedicated WAN port - 4 10/100 LAN Ethernet ports - WiFi Range 230 yards - Full 802.11 b/g/n (repeat 802.11 N capable WiFi) for Superior Range and Speed - Failover Capable - Failback Capable - Load Balance of up to 3 Cellular Modem Connections (if installed and available and configured so…) It splits up the users across the number of cellular cards. Only 1 4G card can be used for load balancing. MSRP = $249.99 and Well Worth It !!!!
* Cradlepoint MBR1100 - IPSEC VPN 3G/4G ROUTER - If you need serious VPN Support, and you know who you are, then this is the MBR1000 + VPN basically. MSRP = $349.99 and well worth it for those that need MBR1000 functionality plus IPSEC VPN.
= = You know what???? You could buy these products in a lot of places. But why not buy them at Alan Spicer Telecom / Marine Telecom ???? In other places you might not get the same knowledgeable support (years of IT and Networking) and Alan Spicer is Carrier Agnostic. What does that mean? Well if you have your own favorite cellular company (called a Cellular Carrier) as long as they have supported Mobile Broadband Cards - *your* happy and *I’m* happy as well. I don’t have to sell you on a data plan on any particular carrier. You can use what you want. You can use what you are comfortable with. At the end of the day - generally these Cradlepoint Products are Carrier Agnostic as well. So if the routers don’t care, why should I ????
