Ericsson W35 Mobile Broadband Router (Marine Pack/Kit)
Posted by Alan Spicer on August 11, 2010 at 2:24am in Leisure Boat Services
Lot’s of boats need to stay connected, and that means voice phone calls as well as Internet Access … not only for Boat Business but for Crew Morale and Happiness as well.
Often Satellite is expensive to turn on and use (if you already have it) and expensive to install and use. But if you’ve got the need we can help you out with satellite systems as well.
We often tag team WiFi and Cellular Systems on boats of all sizes, both sail and motor vessels. That gives you an option of the best one for your location. Many locations have WiFi and it’s very fast and it’s very low cost … often even FREE. Where there is no WiFi … Cellular … the most worldwide system is GSM derived with UMTS/3G High Speed Packet Access as the current technology. Some European states have WCDMA. This covers that as well.
The Ericsson W35 is basically a Broadband Router - for UMTS/3G/WCDMA Cellular Internet as well as simultaneous Voice Telephone Calls (in a 3G area). It makes it’s own network or can be plugged into an existing onboard network. It has WiFi for smaller vessels … and can be plugged into a larger Onboard Network with WiFi as required. For Voice Telephone Service it can plug right into an existing PBX phone system (larger boats) or analog Telephone Jacks (smaller boats), or can easily use a Cordless Phone (e.g. from Panasonic) for this purpose.
We can supply a complete kit from the Antenna/Mount down through the coax cable to the unit. You supply the onboard network, if needed. We can do installations in our local area … or consult on Do-It-Yourself installations anywhere.
