Alan Spicer Marine Telecom … News … ASMT acquires the web domain: www.wifiyacht.com to augment our www.wifiyacht.net

14. February 2011 23:13 / Leave a Comment / Alan Spicer

Marine Electronics Dealers: you guys should sell our WiFi system as well. I am including for your
viewing pleasure the regular Users Manual and the In-Depth-Guide. Please feel
free to pass this on to anyone in your organization that would be interested.
The in-depth-guide says the following:

*This Marine WiFi System contains a very powerful WiFi Router Main Board.
It is quite possible to use this system all year long as it was intended as a
Marine WiFi Hotspot Sharing System without ever reading the following section at
all. AND MOST USERS SHOULD DO EXACTLY THAT.

But there will be those that want to know more. It is quite possible to
re-configure this unit and share your expensive VSAT or 3G Cellular Internet with the
boat next to you (and the next 6 boats in all directions.) But would you want
to???? It’s like that car that can go 200 miles per hour. You’d never drive it that
fast … but you know you COULD. But besides that there are other settings that some
will want to know what they are and what they do. So here they are…

* System hardware / antenna designed by Bryan Fugett – International Marine
Electronics, System software compiled and maintained by Alan Spicer – Alan
Spicer Marine Telecom.

* We are also working on a Marine Internet Connection Switching System with
partners in the industry … just might be able to compete with Livewire and
such systems. We already have Load Balancing and Failover systems
(WebXAccellerator) with Satellite Internet Connection speed-up capability (Proxy
and Compression.) This system is being used as a base to morph into a general
Marine Internet Connection Switching Appliance.

* In other news … Alan Spicer Marine Telecom has acquired http://www.wifiyacht.com which just recently
became available to augment the existing http://www.wifiyacht.net that we already
have had operational for a number of years.

Ericsson W35 Question … I just found your video on connecting the W35 directly thru DC

10. February 2011 09:05 / Leave a Comment / Alan Spicer

Question …
Hi Alan,

I just found your video on connecting the W35
directly thru DC.  I found it because I was thinking that I could just cut off
the AC adapter and wire it directly to a DC plug (with some inline fuses like
you have).  I just was wondering if you could confirm this and if you could let
me know which pins (pins 1 – 4) you used for the black and red wires.

Thank you in advance for your help.

* Answer …

I know which wires it is – because I still have the adaptor I made. I took
the supposedly bad AC to DC adaptor. Cut the plug end of and stripped the wires
down. I tested both with a meter and with a W35 and it seems to work. The wire
#1 and #3 shorted seemed to be important.

From the left – with the white stripe to the right

1 – shorted to 3

2 – positive

3 – shorted to 1

4 (white striped) –
negative

* The numbering I just gave you was arbitrary … but I chose to hold the
four conductor cable in my hand with the white striped wire to the right and
counting from the left. The first black wire being #1, 2nd one #2, etc.
…

* I hereby disclaim any and all responsibility for you using this
information. Use is at your own risk. If you torch your W35 or your dog no
longer loves you afterwards…. I am not responsible.
