Amateur Radio Contact – KA4UDX <-> VK4LJ (also VK4LMB) on 20 Meters – Australia, New Zealand, Africa Net on 14.183 Mhz
* I haven’t confirmed his exact location … on QRZ.COm VK4LJ shows the distance as:
Bearing
266.9° W (from KA4UDX)
Distance 10343.3 mi (16645.9 km)
* But his mailing address on QRZ.COM shows Queensland, Australia (QLD) – which in my Google Earth plot puts it as around 9,180 miles.
* VK4LMB is a few hundred miles north and a little west of VK4LJ mailing address location and around 9,277 miles from me here in South Florida, USA.

* P.S. You can search these guys on QRZ.COM by their ham radio call sign and see the same tabs for Biography and Detail as I see. I simply plot their location (as best available) on Google Earth and use the “Ruler” tool to measure the direction and distance. As you can see in one of the above screen shot images – it pretty much looks like Half-Way around the world. If they were in the middle of Australia or further west it would truly be half-way around the world. This is a pretty darned good haul for radio waves
Pretty good propagation to AU but not so good to elsewhere … everyone else on that net is for the most part in the noise level.
